Italian Spaghetti With Meat Sauce

Ground beef, onions, and green pepper in a mushroom, olive, and tomato based sauce. Seasoned with oregano, basil and garlic. Served over hot spaghetti.
Ingredients -
2 pounds Ground Beef
1 medium Onion, finely chopped
1 Green Pepper, finely chopped
2 (15 ounces each) cans Tomato Sauce
2 (12 ounces each) cans Tomato Paste
1 (7 1/2 ounces) can Pitted Ripe Olives, drained and sliced
2 (1 1/2 ounces each) envelope Italian Style Spaghetti Sauce Mix with Mushrooms
3 cups Water
1 tablespoon Sugar
1 teaspoon Oregano Leaves
2 clove Garlic, crushed
1 Bay Leaf, crumbled
16 ounces Italian Style Spaghetti
Grated Parmesan Cheese
 
Preparation:


1. Brown ground beef, onion, and green pepper until meat is no longer pink.

2. Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, ripe olives, Italian-style spaghetti sauce mix with mushrooms, water, sugar, oregano, garlic, and bay leaves.

3. Cover and simmer 90 minutes. Stir occasionally.

4. Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain.

5. Serve meat sauce over hot spaghetti.

Pasta Water
Use a minimum of one quart of water for 4 ounces of dry pasta. Bring cold water to a hard boil. Add pasta all at once, keep the high heat, and cook pasta uncovered, in a hard boil.

Pasta Cooking Times
Do not rely on cooking times packages provide for you. Test pasta for doneness after 4 minutes by tasting it. Pasta should be tender but still firm when you eat it.
